Zeppelin airship - Zeppelin-Luftschiff

Japanese: ツェッペリン飛行船 - ツェッペリンひこうせん(英語表記)Zeppelin-Luftschiff
Zeppelin airship - Zeppelin-Luftschiff
A rigid airship built by the German Zeppelin Airship Company. Veteran Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin (1838-1917) completed the first airship, LZ1, in 1900, and subsequently built new airships one after another with the aim of making them practical. During World War I, they were used for bombing raids on Belgium and Britain, and in 1929, the Count Zeppelin successfully flew around the world, and regular service between Germany and North and South America also began. The cabin of a large airship was like that of a passenger ship running on the surface of the sea, and passengers could enjoy luxurious meals and music, and they crossed the ocean faster than ships. However, on the evening of May 6, 1937, when the Hindenburg LZ129, which had crossed the Atlantic, arrived at Lakehurst, New Jersey, the moment the mooring rope was lowered to the ground, the paint on the air envelope probably ignited due to static electricity, igniting the hydrogen gas inside and bursting into flames, killing 36 people. This accident marked the end of the Zeppelin airship. (→Airship)
