[Born] Qianlong 40 (1775) [Died] Daoguang 25 (1845) A poet of the Qing Dynasty in China. A native of Qiantang, Zhejiang Province. His pen name was Tuian, and his pen name was Yunbo. He was favored by Ruan Yuan, and as the governor of Jiangdu (Jiangsu Province) he made great achievements in flood control and other areas. His poetry was elegant and skilled in the Xikun style (→ Xikun Ensemble Collection), and his works were beloved in Japan, influencing the Chinese poetry world of the Meiji period. In his later years, he changed to a more elegant style. He advocated literature for women, and is said to have had many female pupils. His works include "Heicheng Xianguan Poetry Collection," "Yidaotang Collection," "Matsuryo Collection," and "Xiling Nostalgia Collection."
