Benzonitrile

A colorless liquid with a benzaldehyde-like odor. Melting point -13.2°C, boiling point 191.1°C. Solubility in water is 1% at 100°C. It can be mixed with alcohols and ethers in any ratio. It can be obtained by diazotizing aniline and reacting it with copper(I) cyanide (Sandmeyer reaction). It becomes benzoic acid when hydrolyzed. ベンズアルデヒドのような臭いをもつ無色の液体。融点－13.2℃，沸点191.1℃。水に対する溶解度は100℃で1％。アルコール，エーテルとは任意の割合でまざる。アニリンをジアゾ化して，シアン化銅(I)を作用させると得られる(ザントマイヤー反応)。加水分解すると安息香酸になる。【小川 桂一郎】
