Chinzei [town] - Chinzei

Japanese: 鎮西[町] - ちんぜい

An old town in the northern part of the Higashi Matsuura Peninsula, Higashi Matsuura District, Saga Prefecture. It is made up of a basalt plateau and includes the islands of Kakara and Madara offshore. Nagoya is the center of the town. Tobacco and mandarin orange cultivation and cattle breeding are thriving. It is home to the cycads at Kosakuji Temple (a natural monument) and the scenic Cape Hado in Genkai Quasi-National Park. In January 2005, it was incorporated into Karatsu City along with Hamatama Town, Iki Town, Ochi Town, Hizen Town, Yobuko Town, and Kitahata Village in Higashi Matsuura District. 37.89 ^km2 . 7,541 people (2003).

佐賀県東松浦郡，東松浦半島北部の旧町。玄武岩台地からなり，沖の加唐(かから)島，馬渡(まだら)島などを含む。中心は名護屋。タバコ，ミカンの栽培，牛の飼育が盛ん。広沢寺のソテツ（天然記念物），玄海国定公園中の景勝波戸(はど)岬がある。2005年１月東松浦郡浜玉町，厳木町，相知町，肥前町，呼子町，北波多村と唐津市へ編入。37.89km²。7541人（2003）。
