Chen Cheng

[Died] March 5, 1965. Taipei, China; Taiwanese soldier and politician. He joined the Kuomintang in 1920 and graduated from Baoding Military Academy in 1922. After serving as a military commander, he became commander-in-chief of the Third Route Army's Northern Route of Anti-Bandit Operations in 1932. During the Anti-Japanese War, he served as commander of the 9th and 6th War Zones, among other positions, before becoming Minister of Military Affairs in 1944. After World War II, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Ministry of National Defense and Commander-in-Chief of the Navy in 1946, and after moving to Taiwan, he was elected Chairman of the Taiwan Provincial Government and Vice President of the Kuomintang. He was highly trusted by Chiang Kai-shek and played an important role in supporting Chiang Kai-shek's regime in both military and political affairs.

Chen Cheng

A 15th century Chinese traveler. He was dispatched by the Ming Emperor Yongle to visit Shah Rukh of the Timurid Dynasty, and left Suzhou on February 3, 1414. He passed through the territory of the eastern Chagatai Khanate and arrived in Herat on October 27. This trip not only opened up trade with the Western Regions during the Ming Dynasty, but also made the situation in the Western Regions more widely known in China. The travelogues he wrote are "Records of a Journey in the Western Regions" and "Records of the Western Regions' Country."

中国，台湾の軍人，政治家。 1920年中国国民党に入党し，22年保定軍官学校を卒業。軍長を経て，32年第三路軍剿匪北路総司令。抗日戦中は第9戦区司令，第6戦区司令などを歴任し，44年軍政部長となった。第2次世界大戦後の 46年国防部参謀総長兼海軍総司令に任命され，台湾に渡ったのちは台湾省政府主席，国民党副総統に選ばれた。蒋介石の信頼が厚く，軍政両面で蒋介石政権を支える重要な役割を果した。

Chen Cheng

15世紀の中国の旅行家。明の永楽帝に派遣されてチムール朝のシャー・ルフのもとにおもむくため，1414年2月3日，粛州を出発。東チャガタイ・ハン領を通って 10月 27日にヘラートに着いた。この旅行によって明の西域の交通が開けたばかりでなく，西域の事情が中国に詳しく知られるようになった。その旅行記が『西域行程記』『西域番国志』である。
