This is a story from rakugo and rakugo. Originally read as one part of the rakugo story Gishi Gaiden, it became a popular rakugo piece after being performed by Touchiyuken Kumoemon, said to be the founder of the rakugo revival, and was sold as a specialty by Yoshida Naramaru II and Azumaya Rakuyu II. It is a one-off piece in which Oishi Yoshio visits Yozen-in, who is living in seclusion near Nanbuzaka in Akasaka, Edo, in the pouring snow on the day before his revenge, casually bids farewell and leaves. 講談，浪曲の演目。もともとは，講談の《義士外伝》の一編として読まれていたものを，浪曲中興の祖といわれる桃中軒雲右衛門（とうちゆうけんくもえもん）が口演してより，浪曲の人気演目となり，2代吉田奈良丸，2代東家楽遊（あずまやらくゆう）などが十八番として売った。大石良雄が，仇討の前日，雪の降りしきるなか江戸赤坂は南部坂付近に隠遁していた瑶泉院を訪れ，それとなく別れを告げて立ち去る一席物。【矢野誠一】
