…They are found in Australia and New Guinea. While kangaroos tend to live in groups on open grasslands, wallabies, such as the red-necked wallaby Protemnodon rufogrisea (illustration), tend to live in deep, enclosed areas such as scrub forests and heathland, making passages through the thick brush. Some, such as the striped rock wallaby Petrogale xanthopus , live on steep rocky areas and are known as the "Australian chamois" because of their agile movements. They make good use of their small bodies to live.
