Basic Law on Traffic Safety Measures

The Basic Law on Traffic Safety Measures was enacted in 1970 with the aim of promoting comprehensive and planned traffic safety measures. It was Act No. 110 of 1970. It clarifies the responsibilities of the national and local governments, users of vehicles, ships, and aircraft, vehicle drivers, seamen, and aircrew, and lays down the basics of traffic safety policies, such as establishing the necessary systems through the national and local governments and formulating traffic safety plans.

交通安全対策の総合的、計画的な推進を図ることを目的として1970年に施行された交通安全対策の基本法。昭和45年法律第110号。国・地方公共団体、車両・船舶・航空機の使用者、車両の運転者、船員、航空機乗組員などの責務を明らかにするとともに、国や地方公共団体を通じて必要な体制を確立し、交通安全計画を策定するなど、交通安全に関する施策の基本を定めている。
