Churrigueresco (English spelling)

Japanese: チュリゲレスコ（英語表記）Churrigueresco

An architectural style of the late Spanish Baroque. It means "Churriguera style" and was established by the Churriguera family and their disciples Pedro de Ribera (c. 1683-1742) and Narciso Tomé (c. 1690-1740). It is characterized by excessive decoration, making extensive use of twisted columns (salomónicas), thin-rooted square columns, curves, paintings, sculptures, etc. The Churriguera family consisted of a Catalan architect (grandfather), a sculptor (father) and their four children, the central figure being one of the children, José-Benito Churriguera (1665-1725), an architect, sculptor, and decorator.

スペイン･バロック末期の建築様式。〈チュリゲラ風〉の意で，チュリゲラChurriguera一族と，その弟子のリベラPedro de Ribera(1683ころ‐1742)，トメーNarciso Tomé(1690ころ‐1740)によって確立された。捩り柱(サロモニカ)や細根の角柱，曲線，絵画，彫刻などを多用し，過剰装飾を特徴とする。チュリゲラ一族はカタルニャ出身の建築家(祖父)，彫刻家(父)と4人の子からなり，中心人物は子の一人で，建築家，彫刻家，装飾家のホセ･ベニートJosé‐Benito Churriguera(1665‐1725)である。
