Carlos I (King of Portugal)

Japanese: カルロス[1世](ポルトガル王) - かるろす
Carlos I (King of Portugal)

The republicans, who strongly criticized the government for succumbing to the oppressive British ultimatum, rapidly gained the support of the people. In 1907, the dictatorship of João Franco dissolved parliament and suppressed the republicans, which led to the assassination of King Carlos and the Crown Prince Dom Luis in February 1908, effectively ending the monarchy.
[Establishment of the Republic]
On October 4, 1910, a revolution led by some radical soldiers and citizens succeeded in Lisbon, and on the following day, October 5, a republic was proclaimed, making Portugal the third republic in Europe after Switzerland and France.
