Common Marsh Harrier - Common Marsh Harrier
A species of bird in the family Accipitridae, or a general term for about 13 species in the genus Marsh Harrier. The eastern marsh harrier Circus spilonotus (English name: eastern marsh harrier) breeds in southern Siberia, northern China, Sakhalin, etc., and migrates to southern China, the Malay Archipelago, and the Philippines in winter. In Japan, a very small number of them breed in Hokkaido and northern Honshu, and they migrate from the continent as winter birds and live in marshes and large reed beds. They are 45 to 58 cm long, and females are larger than males.
