During the Edo period, this road ran along the Seto Inland Sea and was called a side road. It was also called the Saigoku Kaido or Sanyo Road. There are theories that it started in Osaka or Kyoto and ended in Shimonoseki or Dairi (Moji City) in Buzen. The status of the ancient Sanyo Road declined after the Middle Ages, and the number of passengers was low due to the use of the Seto Inland Sea route. There were always 25 people and 25 horses at each post station, and most were small. → Related topicsYamazaki-dori|Side Street Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
