Year of death: 15 July 1336 (July 15, 1336) Year of birth: Unknown. A nobleman from the late Kamakura period and the Northern and Southern Court period. His father was Rokujo Aritada. In Tadaaki's generation, the clan took the name Chikusa (Chikusa is a place name in Ise), and Tadaaki became the ancestor of the Ise Chikusa clan. He was a courtier of Emperor Godaigo, and is known as one of the "Miki Kazukusa." He served as Kurodo no Kami, Sakonoe no Chujo, Danjo no Daisuke, and Tanba no Kami, before becoming a councilor. He was highly trusted by Emperor Godaigo, and during the Genkō Rebellion (1331), he followed the emperor and barricaded himself in Mount Kasagi, serving him loyally. However, after the fall of Kasagi Castle, he was imprisoned by Sasaki (Kyōgoku) Takauji. In 1332, the emperor was exiled to Oki Island, and Tadaaki followed him. The following year, the Emperor escaped from Oki Island, and under the auspices of Nawa Nagatoshi, he established his base at Funakamiyama in Hoki (Tottori). When the government forces began their attack on Rokuhara in the same year, Tadaaki received an imperial order to lead troops and join the attack with Akamatsu Norimura and Ashikaga Takauji, and when the Emperor entered Kyoto, he accompanied him with over 1,000 cavalry. When the Kenmu Restoration began, he became a resident of the Zasso Ketsudansho (Division of Appeals for Miscellaneous Cases) and was made the feudal lord of three provinces, including Tanba Province, and his success was remarkable. In 1336 (Kenmu 3/Engen 1), he became a monk along with Manri-no-koji Nobufusa. However, in the same year, when Ashikaga Takauji defected and the Kenmu government collapsed, Tadaaki defended the Emperor, who had fled to Mount Hiei, and fought in various battles, but was killed in battle against the army of Ashikaga Tadayoshi at Nishisakamoto in Omi Province (Shiga Prefecture). <References> Collected Works of Murata Masashi, Vol. 7 (Masaaki Komori) Source: Asahi Japanese Historical Biography: Asahi Shimbun Publications Inc.
