A French psychiatrist who belonged to the Sainte-Anne School and was active in clinical psychiatric research from around 1910 to the 1930s. He is particularly known for his "double-body illusion" or "double-body illusion" (1923) in chronic systematic delusional illness. This psychiatric symptom, also known today as the Capgras syndrome, is a type of misidentification of a familiar person as "a different person, an impostor, even though they look similar," and is rare, but is seen in schizophrenic mental illnesses, especially in women.

フランスの精神医学者。いわゆるサンタンヌ学派に属し，1910年前後から30年代にかけて精神医学の臨床的研究に活躍した。彼がとくにその名を残したのは，慢性系統妄想病における〈うり二つの錯覚〉ないし〈二重身の錯覚〉(1923)によってである。今日カプグラ症状群ともよばれているこの精神症状は，〈身近な既知の人物を似ているが別人である，偽者である〉とする一種の人物誤認で，まれではあるが精神分裂病圏の精神病において，それも女子に多くみられるものである。
