Vietnamese author and historian. Born in northern Vietnam during the French colonial period, he participated in the independence movement through his literary activities from 1922 onwards. He was arrested in 1928 while active in the Vietnam Nationalist Party and exiled to Con Son Island until 1934. In 1936 he joined the Communist Party and became the chief editor of its organ newspaper and the party's public relations officer. He was arrested again in 1939, but escaped in March 1945 and led the Viet Minh's underground movement. Just before the August Revolution of that year, he was elected vice chairman of the Committee for National Liberation and drafted the first revolutionary uprising decree.

ベトナムの作家，歴史学者。フランス領時代のベトナム北部に生まれ，1922年以後，文学活動を通じて独立運動に参加した。28年ベトナム国民党で活動中逮捕され，34年までコンソン島に流された。36年共産党に加わって機関紙の編集主任，党の広報担当者となった。39年再び検挙されたが，45年3月脱獄してベトミンの地下運動を指導し，同年の八月革命直前に解放民族委員会副主席に選ばれ，革命の蜂起命令第1号を起草した。
