Year of death: Unknown (Year of death unknown) Year of birth: 1326 A member of the imperial family during the Northern and Southern Courts period. Also known as "Narinaga." A son of Emperor Go-Daigo, his mother was Ano Kinkado's daughter Renshi (Shintaikemon'in). In 1333, he was proclaimed prince and presented to Ashikaga Tadayoshi to travel to Kamakura. In 1334, he was promoted to the fourth rank and appointed governor of Kozuke (Gunma Prefecture). The following year, he returned to Kyoto during the Nakasendai Rebellion and was appointed Seii Taishogun. For this reason, he is also known as Shogunnomiya. In November 1335, Emperor Go-Daigo bestowed the sacred treasures on Emperor Komyo of the Jimyoin lineage, and with the help of Ashikaga Takauji, Prince Narinaga became crown prince, but in December of the same year, Emperor Go-Daigo fled to Yoshino, and he was deposed. According to the Taiheiki, the prince died in March of the 4th year of Kenmu (4th year of Kenmu)/the 2nd year of Engen (2nd year of Engen), when he was imprisoned together with Prince Tsunenaga, who was captured after the fall of Kanazaki Castle in Echizen (Fukui Prefecture), and was then poisoned to death. However, the diary of Nakahara Michimori, a contemporary official, Michimori-ki, contains an entry about the death of "Prince Go-Daigoin's son Senbo," who had been entrusted to the residence of Konoe Mototsugu, on January 6, 1344 (3rd year of Koei)/the 5th year of Kōkoku (5th year of Kōkoku), and it is thought that this "Senbo" may refer to Prince Narinaga.
