Official documents issued by the Edo Shogunate's Roju (seniors) on behalf of the Shogun. They can be broadly divided into ceremonial documents and political orders. The former include the supplementary documents attached to the Shogun's internal documents, and return gifts from daimyo families on New Year's Day and Hassaku Day. The latter include general legal announcements such as the ban on Christianity and amnesty edicts, notices to individual daimyo such as the appointment of Otedei-fushin and fire guard corps, and permission for castle restoration requests from daimyo families.
