...In the early Genroku period (1688-1704), various types of sandals were made, including Kyoto sandals with thin bamboo skin bases and scarlet or black velvet straps, hollow sandals with straw bases and velvet straps that were cut into thin strips in the middle, gonzo sandals for children with woven rush grass and loops at the back, and yukitama sandals with animal skin on the sole and a shirigane (shirigane) on the back. In the middle period, there were uratsuke sandals with leather sandwiched between two layers of sole, hemp urazori sandals with braided hemp straps sewn to the back of the bamboo skin surface, and Fujikura sandals with braided straps of other materials sewn to the back. …元禄(1688‐1704)前期には，薄竹皮の台に緋ぢりめんや黒ビロード鼻緒の京草履，わら製の台で中ほどを細く切り残してビロードで覆った中抜き草履，イグサで編み後掛けの輪のついた幼児用の権蔵（ごんぞう），裏に獣皮を張り尻鉄（しりがね）を打った雪踏などがつくられた。また中期には2枚重ねの底に革をはさんだ裏附（うらつけ）草履，竹皮表の裏に三つ編みの麻緒を縫いつけた麻裏草履，他の材で三つ編みの緒を裏に縫いつけた藤倉草履などがあった。江戸時代の草履は，細身の表に長い鼻緒をつけたものが多かった。…
