… In this way, expressionist art around the time of the German Revolution, despite its radical rejection of Dada, changed from apocalyptic expressions depicting the collapse of cities and the destruction of war to a critical or satirical tendency that aimed at the revolution, and established a grotesque and realistic style like that of Dix. The main actors of the movement also shifted from small groups to large groups such as the Council of Artistic Labor and the November Group (established in 1918), and from the former came the utopian expressionist architectural plans of the Glass Chain group (1919-20) centered around B. Taut, and Gropius's Bauhaus concept. In addition to Barlach, Wilhelm Lehmbruck (1881-1919) and other sculptors with expressionist tendencies were also included. …
