Japanese: ムラユ（英語表記）Melayu

A country that arose in the late 7th century in Turanaipura (Jambi) on the east coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. It is also called Malayu. For a long time it was under the control of the neighboring Srivijaya Kingdom, but became powerful in the 13th century. In Chinese documents it is written as Su Luo Yu or Mara Yu, and in the late 11th century it paid tribute to the Song Dynasty as the country of Xianbei. A statue of Amulet Lasso, presented to King Melayu by King Kertanagara of Java in 1286, was discovered in the upper reaches of the Hari River. Sumatran Hindu culture left this country and entered the Islamic cultural sphere.

インドネシア，スマトラ島東岸のトゥラナイプーラ (ジャンビ) に7世紀後半頃勃興した国。マラーユともいう。長い間隣国シュリービジャヤ王国の支配下にあったが，13世紀頃強勢となった。中国文献では，末羅瑜，摩羅瑜などと書かれ，11世紀後半にはせん卑国として宋に入貢した。 1286年にジャワのクルタナガラ王よりムラユ王に贈られた不空羂索像がハリ川上流から発見されている。スマトラのヒンドゥー文化はこの国を最後として，イスラム文化圏に入った。
