Cape Chikiu

Japanese: チキウ岬 - チキウみさき

Also known as Cape Chikyu. A cape located at the southernmost tip of the Etomo Peninsula, which juts out into the Pacific Ocean in southwest Hokkaido. The name comes from the Ainu word Chikepu (meaning cliff). Continuing from Kongohama Beach, there is a series of sea cliffs made of andesite and agglomerate, called Kinbyobu or Golden Cliff. There is a lighthouse, fog signal station, and radio direction signal station, which were installed in 1920. It is one of the "New Eight Views of Muroran".

別称地球岬。北海道南西部，太平洋に突出した絵鞆半島の最南端にある岬。地名はアイヌ語のチケプ (断崖の意) に由来。金剛浜に続き，金屏風または黄金懸崖と呼ばれる安山岩，集塊岩の 15m以上の海食崖が連なる。 1920年設置の灯台および霧信号所，無線方位信号所がある。「室蘭新八景」の1つ。
