Oki Prefecture

...At the end of the Edo period, Matsue Domain and its branch domains, Hirose Domain and Mori Domain, were located in Izumo, and Iwami was the Shogunate's direct territory (controlled by the Omori magistrate's office) centered on the Iwami Silver Mine, Hamada Domain, and Tsuwano Domain, while Oki was a territory under the control of Matsue Domain. In 1869 (Meiji 2), Oki Prefecture was established in Oki Province, and in the same year, it became Omori Prefecture together with the former Hamada Domain and Iwami Silver Mine territories in Iwami Province. The following year, it was renamed Hamada Prefecture, and after the abolition of the feudal domains and the establishment of prefectures, it merged with Tsuwano Prefecture. In Izumo Province, Matsue Domain, Hirose Domain, and Mori Domain were abolished and established as prefectures, and in 1871, it became Shimane Prefecture, which merged with Hamada Prefecture and Tottori Prefecture in 1876, but Tottori Prefecture was re-established in 1881, and the current prefectural boundaries were established. ...

…江戸末期，出雲には松江藩とその支藩の広瀬藩，母里（もり）藩が，石見には石見銀山を中心とする幕府直轄地(大森代官所支配)と浜田藩，津和野藩が置かれ，隠岐は松江藩の預り地であった。1869年(明治2)隠岐国に隠岐県がおかれたが，同年石見国の旧浜田藩領と石見銀山領とともに大森県となり，翌年浜田県と改称した後，廃藩置県を経て津和野県を合併した。出雲国では松江藩，広瀬藩，母里藩が廃藩置県を経た後，71年島根県となり，76年浜田県，鳥取県を合併したが，81年鳥取県が再置され，現在の県域が確定した。…
