Akimasa Ikeda

Japanese: 池田章政 - いけだあきまさ

1836-1903 Daimyo and aristocrats from the late Edo to Meiji periods.
Born on May 3, 1838. The second son of Sagara Yoriyuki, lord of Hitoyoshi Domain in Higo (Kumamoto Prefecture). Adopted by Ikeda Masayoshi. In 1848, he became the 9th head of the Ikeda family, lord of Okayama Shinden (Kamogata) Domain in Bitchu. In 1868, he pursued the Himeji Domain, which was on the side of the shogunate, as a military representative for the head of the family, Ikeda Shigemasa. He succeeded Shigemasa as the 10th head of the Ikeda family, lord of Bizen Okayama Domain, and changed his name from Masanori to Akimasa. In 1878, he became president of the 15th National Bank. He was created a marquis and a member of the House of Peers. He died on June 5, 1893, at the age of 68.

天保(てんぽう)7年5月3日生まれ。肥後(熊本県)人吉藩主相良頼之(さがら-よりゆき)の次男。池田政善(まさよし)の養子。弘化(こうか)4年備中(びっちゅう)岡山新田(鴨方(かもがた))藩主池田家9代。慶応4年宗家藩主池田茂政(もちまさ)の陣代として幕府側の姫路藩を追討。茂政の跡をつぎ,備前岡山藩主池田家10代となり,政詮(まさのり)から章政に改名した。明治11年第十五国立銀行頭取。侯爵。貴族院議員。明治36年6月5日死去。68歳。
