Born: December 28, 1859 in Bremen [Died] 1936 German historian of science. He studied philosophy, physics, chemistry, and botany at the universities of Heidelberg, Berlin, and Halle, and then became interested in natural science and history. He became a chemistry teacher at a vocational school, and then the principal. During his tenure, he devoted himself to teaching methods and research in natural science. He translated O. Guericke's "On the Vacuum" from Latin into German. He then searched for scientific classics in libraries around the country and observed the arts and sciences culture in Europe and the United States. His major work is the great work on the history of science, "History of the Natural Sciences" (1910-13).
