Rigorouspasticity

…A state of increased muscle tone. In muscle spasms, the muscles of the limbs are usually relaxed at rest, but when you try to passively stretch the muscles, you feel resistance (this is due to the stretch reflex), and as you increase the speed of stretching, the resistance increases accordingly. In other words, the stretch reflex is in an increased state. In a typical example, the clasp knife phenomenon is observed, where the resistance suddenly disappears when it becomes strong to a certain extent.
