Kahoku [town] - Kahoku

Japanese: 河北[町] - かほく

A former town in Monou County, eastern Miyagi Prefecture. The Kitakami River runs through the center of the town. The town produces rice, and salmon are caught and corbicula clams are collected in the Kitakami River. The eastern part faces Oppa Bay, and there is a swimming beach at Nagatsuraura. In April 2005, it was incorporated into Ishinomaki City along with Ogatsu Town, Kawanami Town, Monou Town, Kitakami Town in Monou County, and Oshika Town in Oshika County. ^{125.10 km2} . Kahoku [town] [Kahoku]

A town in Nishimurayama County, central Yamagata Prefecture. Located in the western Yamagata Basin, in the northern half of the alluvial fan of the Sagae River, it has extensive rice paddies and produces a lot of rice. Fruit cultivation is also thriving. The town is known for its sandal covers, and also produces a lot of slippers. Yachi, located in the center of the town, developed as a river port on the Mogami River and as a castle town. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. 52.45 ^km2 . 19,959 people (2010).

山形県中部，西村山郡の町。山形盆地西部，寒河江(さがえ)川扇状地の北半部に位置し，水田が広く，米産が多い。果樹栽培も盛ん。ぞうり表の特産があり，スリッパなどの産も多い。中心の谷地(やち)は最上川の河港，城下町として発達した。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。52.45km²。１万9959人（2010）。
