A general term for minerals whose main component is tungsten. Examples include wolframite (FeWO _{4 )} , wolframite (MnWO _{4 )} , and solid solutions of these two minerals (Fe,Mn)WO ₄ , scheelite (CaWO _{4 )} , and wolframite (PbWO _{4 )} . There are also tungstate minerals containing Cu, Bi, Fe, etc., and tungsten oxide ore (WO ₃ ･H ₂ O), but most are weathering products and are not important resources. They exist in the earth's crust at an average concentration of about 1 ppm. Of these minerals, wolframite and scheelite are important resources.

タングステンを主成分とする鉱物の総称。鉄重石FeWO₄，マンガン重石MnWO₄，この両者の固溶体である鉄マンガン重石(Fe,Mn)WO₄，灰重石CaWO₄，鉛重石PbWO₄などがある。さらにCu,Bi,Feなどを含むタングステン酸塩鉱物や酸化タングステン鉱WO₃･H₂Oなどもあるが，多くは風化生成物であり，資源としては重要ではない。地殻中には平均1ppm程度存在する。これら鉱物の中で，鉄マンガン重石と灰重石が資源として重要である。
