Kodak is the world's largest American manufacturer of photographic equipment (film, cameras, etc.). It also produces synthetic fibers, plastics, and industrial chemicals as a chemical manufacturer. Its headquarters are in Rochester, New York. It began as a dry plate and film manufacturing company started by G. Eastman as a private business in 1880. In 1888, it released the first Kodak camera (a portable camera), and in 1898, it released the bellows-type folding Kodak camera, which was the first step toward modern cameras.
