Working People's Cultural Palace (English: Working People's Cultural Palace)

Working People's Cultural Palace (English: Working People's Cultural Palace)
A center for cultural, artistic, and sports activities for workers in China's major cities. In January 1950, immediately after liberation, the People's Government donated the Imperial Temple on the east side of Tiananmen Square to the Beijing Federation of Trade Unions for use as a welfare and social facility for workers, and on May Day of the same year, it was opened to the public with a plaque bearing Mao Zedong's name "Beijing Municipal Workers' Cultural Palace" hanging on the main gate. Since then, similar facilities have been established in cities such as Shanghai, Shenyang, Harbin, and Hangzhou. In the northeastern region, based on the "Northeast District Cultural Network Organization and Work Guidelines Implementation Regulations" enacted in March 1950, cultural palaces were positioned at the top of a pyramidal cultural network, with cultural palaces in large industrial cities and cultural halls in counties and cities, but this is not necessarily uniform throughout the country.
