Rakugo. The original story is "Hangonkou" from "Edo Kisho" (1806). It is a typical Kamigata Rakugo, known in Tokyo as "Tachikiri." The young master of a Senba landlord is confined to a storehouse for 100 days as a result of his indulgence. During that time, his lover, a geisha named Koito, dies of lovesickness. When the young master visits Koito's house after the 100 days have passed and lights incense in grief, the shamisen placed on the Buddhist altar begins to play by itself, and the sound of a jiuta (traditional folk song) being sung "Yuki" can be heard.
