A town in Mii County in the central-southern part of Fukuoka Prefecture. Located in the central-northern part of the Tsukushi Plain, it occupies the lowlands on the right bank of the middle reaches of the Chikugo River. Rice is the main crop, but the town also produces plants and vegetables. The former site of an army airfield has become a reclaimed land. The Nishitetsu Amagi Line runs through the town. 22.84 km2 .
