Tangled Daisy

Japanese: ダンゴギク
Tangled Daisy
A perennial plant of the Asteraceae family native to North America, a member of the Helenium genus. It is cultivated for flower beds and for cut flowers. The stem stands upright at about 1m in height and branches at the top, producing flower heads about 3-4cm in diameter in August-September. The ray flowers have three lobes at the tip, and although the basic species is yellow, there are also horticultural varieties that are dark red or yellowish brown. The central tubular flower is raised to a hemispherical shape. It is propagated by division.
