Tajimamori - Tajimamori

Japanese:
Tajimamori - Tajimamori

A legendary figure who was sent to Tokoyo no kuni in search of Tokijiku no kakunomi (Tokijiku no kakunomi) during the reign of Emperor Suinin. He is also written as Tachimamori. The Kojiki and Nihon Shoki equate "Tokijiku no kakunomi" with "tachibana" (citrus fruit), and the story goes that when Tamayomamori returned to Japan 10 years later with the "kakunomi", a spear, and a hakage (heel), Emperor Suinin had already died, and he died in grief near the Emperor's tomb. He is said to be the ancestor of the Miyake no Muraji, who came from overseas. The Kojiki's section on Emperor Ojin records the lineage of Amenohiboko's descendants, and the name Tachimamuri appears there. As the Nihon Shoki describes the land of Tokoyo as a "secret region of immortals" in the tale of Tamayori's visit to Tokoyo, the legend of Tokoyo is influenced by the idea of immortals. There is a theory that the reason this tale of going to Tokoyo took place during the reign of Emperor Suinin is related to the fact that Emperor Suinin was considered to have lived a long life (153 years in the Kojiki and 140 years in the Nihon Shoki).
