Italian anatomist. He studied at the University of Ferrara, and after serving as professor at the universities of Ferrara and Pisa, he became professor of anatomy and botany at the University of Padua in 1551, succeeding MR Colombo. The anatomical terms named after him include the fallopian tube and the facial canal of the temporal bone. He wrote extensively about the anatomy of the chorda tympani nerve, trigeminal nerve, glossopharyngeal nerve, velum palate, ocular muscles, cerebral blood vessels, cervical and lumbar swelling of the spinal cord, vagina, placenta, and genitals. The results of his research were compiled in Observationes anatomicae in 1561.

イタリアの解剖学者。フェラーラ大学に学び，フェラーラおよびピサ大学教授を経て，1551年M.R.コロンボの後任としてパドバ大学の解剖学･植物学教授となった。卵管，側頭骨顔面神経管に，解剖用語として，彼の名を残した。鼓索神経，三叉神経，舌咽神経，口蓋帆，眼球筋，脳血管，脊髄の頸部腰部腫大，腟，胎盤，性器などの解剖の記載が多い。研究成果は61年《解剖学観察Observationes anatomicae》にまとめられた。
