Takebe Taisha Shrine

Located in Shinryo, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Enshrining Yamato Takeru no Mikoto. In the 46th year of the reign of Emperor Keiko, Takebe Inayorikeou no Mikoto, the son of Yamato Takeru, enshrined Yamato Takeru at Chikusa-dake in Takebe-go, Kanzaki County, Oumi Province (Omi, Shiga Prefecture). Later, in 675 (4th year of Emperor Tenmu), Takebe no Kimiyasumaro moved the shrine to Oono-yama in Seta-go, Kurita County by imperial order, and in 755 (7th year of Tenpyo Shoho), Takebe no Iga-maro moved the shrine to its current location at the foot of the mountain. It is a shrine listed in the Engi Shikinai (Engi-shiki) in Kurita County, Omi Province, and was once called Ichinomiya (Ichinomiya) in Omi Province. It was formerly a Kanpei Taisha (Great Shrine with Imperial Support). Its annual festival is on April 15th. During the Summer Boat Festival on August 17th, a royal boat with bonfires travels up and down the Seta River. The shrine's possessions include a seated statue of a goddess and a stone lantern with an inscription from the 7th year of Bun'ei (1270), both of which are important cultural properties of the country.
