Takatsuki [town] - Takatsuki

Japanese: 高月[町] - たかつき

A former town in Ika District, northern Shiga Prefecture. Located on the eastern shore of Lake Biwa, it occupies the lowlands of the Takatoki and Yogo rivers. Rice farming is thriving here. The Hokuriku Main Line and National Route 8 pass through the town, and in recent years factories have also moved in. There is Mukogenji Temple (Toganji Temple) with its wooden eleven-faced Kannon statue (a national treasure). The lake shore is part of Lake Biwa Quasi-National Park, and in 1993 it became a Ramsar Convention registered wetland. In January 2010, it was incorporated into Nagahama City along with Torahime Town, Kohoku Town, Kinomoto Town, Yogo Town, and Nishiazai Town in Higashiazai District. Area: ^{41.22 km2} . Population: 10,242 (2005).

滋賀県北部，伊香(いか)郡の旧町。琵琶湖東岸に位置し，高時(たかとき)川，余呉(よご)川の低地を占める。米作が盛ん。北陸本線，国道８号線が通じ，近年は工場も進出。木造十一面観音像（国宝）をもつ向源寺（渡岸寺）がある。湖岸は琵琶湖国定公園に属し，1993年にラムサール条約登録湿地となる。2010年１月東浅井郡虎姫町，湖北町，伊香郡木之本町，余呉町，西浅井町と長浜市へ編入。41.22km²。１万242人（2005）。
