Ishidoriya [town] - Ishidoriya

Japanese: 石鳥谷[町] - いしどりや

A former town in Hienuki County in central Iwate Prefecture. The Tohoku Main Line runs through it. It is part of the grain belt in the middle reaches of the Kitakami River, and produces a lot of rice and sake. It is also a producer of Iwate apples. It is known as the birthplace of the Nanbu Toji (master brewers). In January 2006, it was incorporated into Hanamaki City along with Osako Town in Hienuki County and Towa Town in Waga County. 118.57 ^km2 . Population: 16,473 (2003).
