A telescope for photographing the sun. It takes direct images of sunspots, faculae, and granular spots, and also takes direct images of the chromosphere using filters and a spectroscope, and photographs the solar spectrum. Because air turbulence is greater during the day than at night, various techniques are used to capture fine images of the sun within one arc second. (1) It is desirable to set up a telescope in a place with good seeing. Lake shores are considered to be places with good seeing because the lake water absorbs solar heat and there is less air turbulence than on the ground.
