Abd al-Qadir (16th century)

...The trend of coffee adoration and the political discussions held in coffee shops were seen as dangerous by those in power, and they sometimes interfered with and suppressed coffee shops and coffee drinking. On the other hand, in the same mid-16th century, the Muslim elder Abd al-Khadir wrote a book summarizing knowledge about coffee and praised it. The manuscript was moved from Turkey to France by Louis XIV, and is currently kept in the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris as the only document that tells the history of coffee.
