Astrakhan was one of the successor states to the Golden Horde, founded in 1466 by Qāsim Khan in the Lower Volga region (-1556). In Turkish it is called Astırhan Han. Most of the inhabitants were Turkic-Mongolian nomads, but its capital, Astrakhan, located on the north shore of the Caspian Sea, attracted many merchants from the Volga region, the Caucasus, Iran, Turkestan, and other places, and the city developed into a commercial center. However, the khanate was weakened by interference from the Crime Khanate and internal conflicts, and was attacked by Ivan IV (the Terrible) and annexed by Russia in 1556.

キプチャク･ハーン国の継承国家の一つで，1466年カーシム･ハーンQāsim Khānがボルガ下流域に建国した(‐1556)。トルコ語ではAstırhan Han。住民の多くはトルコ･モンゴル系の遊牧民であったが，カスピ海北岸に位置する首都のアストラハンにはボルガ流域，カフカス，イラン，トルキスタンなどから多くの商人が訪れ，市は商業の中心地として発展した。しかし，ハーン国はクリム･ハーン国の干渉や内紛によって弱体化し，イワン4世(雷帝)の攻撃を受けて，1556年ロシアに併合された。
