Japanese: 大秦景教流行中国碑 - たいしんけいきょうりゅうこうちゅうごくひ

This monument records the situation when Nestorian Christianity became popular in China during the Tang Dynasty. It is still on display in the forest of stone monuments in the Shaanxi Provincial Museum in Xi'an. It was erected in 781 (Jianzhong 2) during the Tang Dynasty at Daqin Temple in Yiningfang, the Tang capital Chang'an, and was excavated in the grounds of the temple, which was later renamed Jinsheng Temple, at the end of the Ming Dynasty. Nestorian Christianity was the name used by the Chinese at the time to refer to Nestorian Christianity, and Daqin referred to the eastern territory of the Roman Empire where it originated, and the temple was called Daqin Temple (it was originally called Persia because it was introduced to China directly from Persia).

ネストリウス派のキリスト教が唐代，中国に流行した状況を記した記念碑。西安の陝西省博物館内の碑林に現存する。唐の781年(建中2)，唐都長安の義寧坊にあった大秦寺に立てられたもので，明代の末年に同寺のあと金勝寺の境内から発掘された。景教とは当時の中国人がネストリウス派のキリスト教を呼んだ語であり，大秦とはその発生地ローマ帝国の東方領をさし，寺院を大秦寺(中国へは直接ペルシアから伝わったので，初めは波斯寺と称した)といったのである。
