Fetal placental function test

Japanese: 胎児胎盤機能検査 - たいじたいばんきのうけんさ

A test to examine the vitality of the fetus and the function of the placenta. Traditionally, tests that only examined placental function have been studied, because the placenta plays a vital role in the fetus's breathing and metabolism, and ultimately, this test is intended to determine the vitality of the fetus. Therefore, fetal placental function tests that examine the function of the fetus and placenta as a unit are clinically preferable. There are several methods for fetal placental function tests, such as serum hPL (human placental prolactin) levels, but the method most commonly used by clinicians today is the measurement of estrogen in the mother's urine.

胎児の生命力と胎盤の機能を調べるための検査。従来は，胎盤機能だけを切り離した検査法が研究されてきたが，これは胎盤が胎児の呼吸，代謝など胎児の生命線ともいうべき役割を果たしているからであり，これも最終的には胎児の生活力を知りたいための検査法である。したがってユニットとしての胎児と胎盤の機能を調べる胎児胎盤機能検査法のほうが臨床的には望ましいこととなる。　胎児胎盤機能検査には血清hPL(ヒト胎盤性プロラクチン)値などいくつかの検査法があるが，現在，臨床医によって最もよく用いられているのは母体の尿中エストロゲンを測定する方法である。
