A former town in Kahoku County in central Ishikawa Prefecture. The Nanao Line runs through the town. In the past, silk was a major industry, but in recent years, synthetic fiber textiles have been a major industry, and the town also has an ironworks. Grapes, tobacco, watermelons, and other produce are produced on the sand dunes. There are swimming beaches along the coast. In March 2004, the town merged with Nanatsuka Town and Unoke Town in Kahoku County to form Kahoku City. 26.40 km2 . Population: 10,682 (2003).
