[Born] 1884 [Died] 1962 Italian geographer. Professor at the University of Padua in 1911, he trained many students at the University of Rome from 1915 to 1959. He made great achievements in many fields, but was especially noted for his work in the history of geography and cartography. During the Fascist era, he fled to the Vatican and organized and studied the ancient maps held in the Vatican Library.
