Trunk -

The part of a vertebrate's body excluding the limbs. Also called the trunk. The trunk is further divided into the head, neck, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, and tail. The limbs are the hands and feet that extend from the trunk, and are divided into the forelimbs (upper limbs) and hind limbs (lower limbs). Humans are characterized by a smaller ratio of trunk to lower limbs compared to other primates. 脊椎動物の体のうち，体肢を除いた部分。躯幹ともいう。体幹はさらに頭部，頸部，胸部，腹部，骨盤部，尾部に区分される。体肢は体幹から出る手足で，前肢 (上肢) ，後肢 (下肢) に分ける。ヒトは他の霊長類と比較して下肢に対する体幹の割合が小さいのが特徴である。
