Platinic acid (English spelling)

Platinic acid (English spelling)
Platinum(IV) oxide tetrahydrate, PtO 2 ・4H 2 O, can be written as H 2 [Pt(OH) 6 ], so it is called platinic acid (officially hexahydroxoplatinic(IV) acid). It can also be written as Pt(OH) 4 ・2H 2 O, so it is also called platinum(IV) hydroxide, but the exact structure is unknown. It can be obtained by adding an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to an aqueous solution of chloroplatinic acid(IV) H 2 [PtCl 6 ], which is produced when platinum is dissolved in aqua regia, and then boiling for a long time and neutralizing with acetic acid.
