Takemune - Busou

The 15th emperor of the Tang Dynasty, China (reigned 840-846). His surname was Li and given name was Yan. He was the fifth son of Emperor Muzong and the younger brother of Emperor Wenzong. His mother was Empress Xuanyi Wei. He was made King of Ying in 821, and after Emperor Wenzong's death in 840, he was supported by the eunuchs Yu Hongzhi and Qiu Shiliang. Li Deyu, who had been rejected by the central government, was reinstated as prime minister and took real political power. Taking advantage of the internal divisions of the Uighurs, he adopted an aggressive policy and managed to bring back Princess Taihe, who had been married to the Khan of Uighur. The emperor made a great use of the Taoist priest Zhao Guizhen, and in 845 carried out a large-scale abolition of Buddhism, destroying 4,600 temples and leaving only a few standing, and forcing over 260,000 monks and nuns to return to secular life. The emperor died of poisoning after drinking golden elixir.

中国、唐の第15代皇帝（在位840～846）。姓は李(り)、名は炎。穆宗(ぼくそう)の第5子で、文宗の弟。母は宣懿(せんい)皇后韋(い)氏。821年潁王(えいおう)に封ぜられ、840年文宗の死後、宦官(かんがん)の魚弘志、仇(きゅう)士良によって擁立された。中央より退けられていた李徳裕(りとくゆう)が宰相に復活し、政治の実権を握った。廻鶻(かいこつ)（ウイグル）の内部分裂に乗じて積極策に転じ、廻鶻可汗(かかん)に嫁していた太和公主を帰還させることができた。帝は道士の趙帰真(ちょうきしん)を重用して、845年大規模な廃仏を断行し、少数の寺院を残したほか、4600寺を壊し、僧尼26万余人を還俗(げんぞく)させた。帝は金丹(きんたん)を飲んで中毒にかかって死去した。
