Japanese: ソライロアサガオ - そらいろあさがお

Also known as the morning glory, this annual plant is native to tropical America and belongs to the Convolvulaceae family. It blooms with beautiful, solid blue flowers from the end of August until frost, so it can be enjoyed by attaching it to a sunshade or fence. Its leaves are hairless and heart-shaped. It produces a flower stalk in the leaf axil and produces a dozen or so flowers, which differs from Japanese morning glories, which produce only one flower in the leaf axil. Cultivars developed in America include Heavenly Blue, which has blue flowers, Pearly Gate, which has white flowers, and Flying Saucers, which has blue flowers with white stripes.

セイヨウアサガオとも呼ばれる熱帯アメリカ原産のヒルガオ科の一年草。8月末から霜の降りるまでの間，美しい青一色の花を咲かせるので，日よけ棚やフェンスにはわせて観賞する。葉は無毛でハート形。葉腋（ようえき）に花柄を出して十数花をつける点が，葉腋に1花しかつけない日本のアサガオと異なる。花が青藍色のヘブンリー･ブルーHeavenly Blue，白色のパーリー･ゲートPearly Gate，青に白縞の入るフライング･ソーサーFlying Saucersなどの品種がアメリカで作出された。
