Sobornost' (English spelling)

Japanese: ソボルノスチ（英語表記）sobornost’

It refers to the theological ideas seen in 19th century Russian religious thinkers such as Khomyakov and Berdyaev, but also goes beyond the framework of theology to refer to the ideas that were considered to be a characteristic of Russian nationality that distinguished Russia from Western Europe. The word is derived from the Russian word sobor (gathering). According to Khomyakov, sobornost, like the Greek word koinōnia (fellowship, common spirit), means a free association or communal oneness between people who are united with Christ, and its prototype can be seen in the fellowship of believers in the early church (Acts 2-42).

19世紀のホミャコーフ，ベルジャーエフなどロシアの宗教思想家に見られた神学思想をいうが，さらに神学の枠をこえ，西ヨーロッパとロシアを識別するロシア民族性の特質とされた理念をもさす。ロシア語のソボルsobor(集い)から派生したことばである。ホミャコーフによれば，ソボルノスチはギリシア語koinōnia(交わり，共同精神)と同じく，キリストと結ばれた人々のあいだの自由な連合ないし共同体的一体性を意味し，初代教会の信者の交わり(《使徒行伝》2‐42)にその原型が見られるとした。
