...Live blenny fish are used in the Tokyo area as an ingredient in tempura, but are rarely eaten in other areas. The closely related blenny fish, Pholis pictus , is a cold-water marine fish that lives north of Hokkaido, on the coasts of Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands, and the Sea of Okhotsk. It is about 25 cm long.
